It is a joint project of churches, tourism associations, municipalities, and other sponsors. The trail is aimed at pilgrims, hikers, and visitors interested in the Reformation and its effects.
The Luther Trail leads through picturesque landscapes, to places and sites whose significance is revealed through the effects of the reformist movement. Numerous stops in cities and smaller towns welcome you. They offer interesting insights into their respective special themes, enabling an engagement with Martin Luther and other reformers.
Extended tour description:Walking, observing, praying, finding peace – that is what the Luther Trail invites you to do. With a total length of nearly 3,000 km, it stretches across the five federal states of Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony, Thuringia, Bavaria, and Hesse.
Record the visited stations along the Luther Trail in your pilgrimage passport as stamps and conclude a day full of impressions and inner reflection with the pilgrim's blessing in contemplative silence. Pilgrimage passports and pilgrim's blessings are available for a fee from the German Luther Trail Society.
The Luther Trails of all five federal states form a common network, which also passes through Saale-Unstrut. The start and end of a pilgrimage section are individually selectable.
