Waldlehrpfad in Meßstetten-Tieringen

An educational forest trail with many information boards and interactive stations on the topics of forests, trees and native animals.

The approximately 4.5 km long forest nature trail was created in 1991/92 by the Kohlraisle local history association and has been maintained with great effort ever since.About 70 signs provide information about the typical shrub and tree species of the south-western Alb. Interspersed are striking quotes on the subject of environmental protection, which are intended to stimulate reflection. For example, the statement by actress Jane Fonda: "We treat this world as if we had another one in the trunk".

For the 30th anniversary in 2022, the trail was expanded with interactive stations:Here, for example, birds can be assigned a beak, nest and food. Who knows what the skin of native reptiles looks like, what they like to eat and where their habitat is? Can you match the skin pattern to the amphibians? Do you know where they live and what their young look like? And which tracks actually belong to squirrels, deer, foxes and hares? Did you also know that deadwood is very important for life in the forest?

There are lots of exciting questions to answer in a fun way.
