The wonderful location of Eschlkam was described by the Bavarian Forest poet Maximilian Schmidt, known as Waldschmidt, who was born here. A visit to the "Waldschmidt Museum" in the "Zur Post" inn is informative. Worth seeing: St. Jakob parish church, art trail "Border encounters between East and West", art pavilion "In the new center of Europe - light and shadow". The route leads south along the Freybach stream and turns off at Multererhof to the pilgrimage site of Neukirchen b. Hl. Blut (see Tour 1). Via Hinterbuchberg and Warzenried, the route leads to Neuschwarzau, a wasteland right on the border with the Bohemian Forest. Through Stachesrieder Holz you reach Großaign with its natural bathing pond.
