Hohenwarth - Kötztinger Hütte

At the fire station, we cross the main road and stay on Hudlacher Straße. After 1⁄2 hour, we reach the Hubertus Chapel. Here, just before the chapel, the Ho1 hiking trail leads us left into the forest. The path climbs steadily uphill, passing the Hudlach chapel with its death boards, until we reach the Hudlach mountain farm. We leave Hudlach on the left and head towards our destination, the Kötztinger Hütte. After about 100 meters we are faced with the decision of whether to take the shorter, but very steep, or the longer and less difficult hiking trail. If we choose the shorter path, we have to keep left at the fork. If you opt for the easier ascent, continue along the marked Ho1 trail at the fork. After the 1⁄2 ascent, we reach the ridge and meet the main hiking trail of the Bayerischer Waldverein. We keep left and walk in the direction of Mittagstein, past the memorial for the victims of the two world wars to the Kötztinger Hütte 150 m away. A wonderful panoramic view awaits us here.
