Tour 15: Bad Kötzting - Blaibach - Kolmberg - Ramsried - Voggendorf - Bad Kötzting

The route begins in Bavaria's youngest Kneipp spa, Bad Kötzting, an idyllically situated town in the valley of the White Rain. Bad Kötzting is all about health: Pure bathing fun and wellness in the "AQACUR-Badewelt ", 123,000 square meter spa park with the Chinese Wall, first German clinic for traditional Chinese medicine, Bad Kötzting casino, picturesque riverside promenade, interesting specialty stores, two Bärwurzereien, church castle from late Gothic times, Whitsun Riding Museum, Schnapps Museum, glass show distillery. Every day at 11 a.m., a carillon at the historic Old Town Hall shows the origin of the "Whitsun Ride" in figures. Tip: The traditional Whitsun Ride takes place every year on Whit Monday. Over 900 riders on magnificently decorated horses then parade through the Zellertal valley out to St. Nicholas Church in Steinbühl, renewing a vow made in 1412. Starting at the large parking lot at the Kurpark, along the Kurparkdamm, via Gmünd, we reach Blaibach (see route 14). At the parking lot in the direction of Bärndorf - Kolmberg - Dürrnwies, a fitness trail invites you to loosen up your muscles; from the Ziegelberg there is a wonderful view of the valley. The forest accompanies us on the next stages to Kolmberg and then from Gradis to Ried am Haidstein. Worth seeing in Ried is the 1000-year-old Wolfram lime tree, named after the minnesinger Wolfram von Eschenbach. We return to Bad Kötzting via Ramsried, Voggendorf, Zittenhof and Hausermühle. Tip: Every year in July and August, the Ludwigsberg hosts the forest festival with literary classics in Bavarian dialect.
