Kirschbaumriegelweg

The trail initially follows the Gl4 hiking trail to Burgstallstraße. From here, the Gl7 leaves the Gl4 and crosses the Bogenbach. Passing a forest meadow, the path then turns left in the forest. Over the Geißriegel you come to the 826 m high Dachsriegel with its unmanaged Dachsriegel hut and magnificent views. Heading south uphill for 1.4 km, you reach the beautiful viewing rock of the Kirschbaumriegel (634 m) with summit cross and summit book. You should definitely plan a longer rest here and take your binoculars with you. The old border town of Furth im Wald presents itself deep below steeply sloping rocks and a carpet of forest. Above it, the view sweeps over the Hohen-Bogen-Winkel, the border mountains to the Osser and far into Bohemia. To the south, above the roofs of Arnschwang, the field of vision widens to the mountains rising up from the Gäuboden. The trail descends on a steep forest path to the Ränkam - Lixenried connecting road and continues downhill on a narrow forest path to the Waldesruh inn (440 m). If the weather is good, you can take a break on the large terrace and enjoy the beautiful view and the afternoon sun. From there, the trail continues along narrow roads and through the forest to the state road to Furth im Wald. Cross the road and continue past the sewage treatment plant and Ried near Gleißenberg, past the Meranpark and back to Gleißenberg.
