Winterwanderung - Stollenweg

Designed as an educational trail for mining, geology and landscape, the gallery trail begins on the site around the deep gallery and the Peißenberg Mining Museum. Passing not far from the Sulzer Stollen and the Mittelstollen, the trail climbs steeply in places through the forest until it reaches open terrain again in Vorderschwaig. From the road to Hinterschwaig, hikers can enjoy a magnificent Alpine panorama. After another, albeit relatively short, section through the forest, you reach Hohenpeißenberg. In the Unterbau district, you will find the former main tunnel, where pitch coal mining began on Hohen Peißenberg. A narrow path leads from here through the forest in an easterly direction before passing the Weinbauer estate and St. Georg Chapel on the way back to Peißenberg.

Author's tip: A visit to the mining museum at the start and finish of the tour is highly recommended.
