Winterwanderung - Auf den Hohen Peißenberg

We first pass parts of Peißenberg in a northerly direction and follow Thalackerstraße until we finally follow the road uphill to the left. The path continues past the small hamlet of Schweiber until we finally reach the chapel of St. Michael after a few hundred meters. From now on, a gigantic panorama will be a constant companion. Depending on the weather, the view extends as far as Lake Ammersee and Lake Starnberg. The path now leads very steeply through Unterbuchau, Oberbuchau and Taigschuster. The transmission tower of the Hoher Peißenberg is now an orientation aid. After passing the short section of forest, we have almost reached the summit, where the less frequented paths are replaced by the hustle and bustle on the ridge. On the Hoher Peißenberg, you can take in the sights before descending. The descent is via Wieser. At the crossroads, which is also a wonderful vantage point, we take the left-hand path to Ober- and Vorderschwaig before taking a sharp bend at Weinbauer. In Sankt Georg, we have to be particularly careful on the descent so that we don't miss the path to the St. Georg chapel, from where a rooty stair path leads us downhill. We walk back to the starting point along the railroad tracks.

Author's tip: A detour to the Peißenberg Mining Museum is worthwhile!
