Description by the author

You can enjoy a leisurely cycle along the old Ammer river and discover a number of storks foraging in the remnants of the riparian forest.

As the name suggests, the stork tour towards Ammersee is all about storks. The 30 km cycle tour leads from the west of Weilheim along the Ammer via Raisting, Stillern and Lichtenau back to the original starting point. On the way through the remnants of the alluvial forest along the original course of the Ammer, you will come across the storks that gave the river its name and are foraging in this feeding biotope.

The route continues to Raisting. The 18 parabolic reflectors of the earth station can be seen from afar. In Raisting itself, you can get to know the white storks Raisti and Rosita. The route continues via Rott to Stilllern, where a cozy beer garden invites you to stop for a bite to eat. Afterwards you cycle through forests and meadows to Lichtenau, continuing through the Ammersee basin and through the Weilheimer Moos. The landscape is strongly influenced by the Ice Age.

Following the signposted path, you continue to the Unterhausener Ammerwehr and from there back to the starting point.

In total, the tour takes around 2.5 - 3.5 hours and covers 30 km.
