Historical Roman Trail (Roman Path) in the Butzerbachtal - certified premium hiking trail

This hike, recognized by the German Hiking Institute, takes you past several Roman remains, Burg Ramstein and through the beautiful Butzerbachtal.

Please note: the additional loop to the remains and viewpoint Hochburg is not part of the walk!

We prefer to start at the parking lot in Butzweiler because we can then make a stop at Burg Ramstein . When starting at the parking lot of Burg Ramstein there are no catering facilities along the way.

The walk passes some Roman remains: the mine "Pützlöcher ", the wall "Langmauer" , but also the natural caves " Genovevahöhle" which were used by the Romans, the " Klausenhöhle" and the “ Sylvesterhöhle ” . From the Middle Ages remains "Burg Ramstein" (free to visit) where we plan a stopover with a panoramic view of the valley.

Other highlights include the Genovevahöhle viewpoint as well as the Butzerbachtal valley with the seven waterfalls of " The Whispering Water".
