Culture and nature on the banks of the Blies

Start your hike on the French side, from the parking lot of the Sarreguemines aquatic center, located just steps from the entrance of the Moulin de la Blies. This unique site brings together two heritage treasures: the Jardin des Faïenciers, a true green haven set on former industrial wastelands, and the Musée des Techniques Faïencières, a living witness of the craftsmanship that has made Sarreguemines famous.

Take the pedestrian walkway that will lead you into the Sitterswald forest, along the Franco-German border, in the midst of the remarkable landscapes of the Bliesgau biosphere reserve in Germany. Follow the river to Blies-Guersviller (on the French side), the opportunity to discover its arboretum, laid out along the banks of the Blies. This educational trail marked with thematic panels reveals the richness of the local fauna and flora. Take the time to take a break at the picnic area.

The route then leaves the lush alluvial plain to reach the mill of Bliesgersweiler. Further along, cross the village of Kleinblittersdorf. Leave behind its peaceful alleys and continue your path between forest edges and flowering meadows. The high passages offer you fantastic panoramas extending to the Vosges.

Finally, return along the Blies to find your starting point at the Sarreguemines aquatic center. Treat yourself to a culinary break at its restaurant. A nice way to conclude this pleasant getaway between culture and nature. Budget a full day to fully enjoy this circuit.
