Ruhrhaldenweg, Stage 01: Duisburg - Ruhrort - Moers

The Ruhrhaldenweg is a 580 km long long-distance hiking trail that connects the territories, garden districts, and former coal mines of the Ruhr metropolis. A chain of footpaths, towing paths, small and large roads, upgraded railway tracks, and terrace paths takes you through the entire Ruhr area, from Moers and Duisburg in the west to Dortmund and Bergkamen in the east.
This first stage takes you through the old town of Duisburg to the Rijnhaven in Ruhrort. Over the mighty Rhine, we go to the west bank, where we hike through three beautiful garden districts: Rheinpreussen, Johannenhof, and Kolonie Meerbeeck. We also cross the area of the Rheinpreussen mine and visit the beach at Uettelsheimer See.
