Ruhrhaldenweg, Stage 40: DU-Hochfeld South - Essenberg - Duisburg

The Ruhrhaldenweg is a 580 km long long-distance hiking trail that connects the hills, garden cities, and former mines of the Ruhr metropolis. A chain of footpaths, towing paths, small and large roads, converted railway lines, and terrain paths leads you through the entire Ruhr area, from Moers and Duisburg in the west to Dortmund and Bergkamen in the east.
The 40th and final stage is a section along the Rhine. From Rijnpark in Hochfeld-South, you cross the railway bridge over the river. On the left bank, you first visit the Margarethensiedlung, then follow the path directly along the river to Rockelsberg. Once you arrive at the top, you will receive a magnificent 360° panorama over the western Ruhr area. You cross the river again via the bridge of the Ruhrautoweg and reach the center of Duisburg through the port area and the newly designed inner harbor.
