The wheel track here is called Mastrup Byvej on the cadastral map and is an ancient thoroughfare. The road crosses Mastrup Bæk without any form of construction over a so-called fording place, which were common in earlier times. People simply drove straight through the watercourse where there was a solid bottom and shallow water. Today, there are bridges or pipe underpasses everywhere the smallest road crosses the smallest watercourse. The fording place in Mastrup is therefore a small piece of cultural history that hopefully will be preserved by landowners continuing to drive through the watercourse now and then.
