Odense Canal - Enebærodde - Dallund Castle

Start by crossing the beautiful City Bridge and drive towards the harbor, then through Åløkkeskoven and past Næsbyhoved Slotsbakke. Follow the Odense Canal along bike route 32 all the way out to Klintebjerg Fjordhavn (there are toilets), where you might be lucky to spot a sea eagle flying over Odense Fjord. Continue north past Otterup Harbor to Hofmansgave Herregård and take a walk in the beautiful park and experience Denmark's only potato museum. Cycle north until you reach Halshusene, where you turn towards the beautiful Enebærodde, which is a 6 km long spit that separates Odense Fjord from Kattegat. Here, there are good sandy beaches where you can relax and sunbathe or take a refreshing dip in the waves. It’s a perfect spot to enjoy your packed lunch. At the tip of the spit, there are great photo opportunities of the beautiful lighthouse with grazing Galloway cattle and Hindsholm in the background. When you return to Halshusene, continue along the coast in a cozy summer house area. There are also good bathing opportunities. You can buy supplies at Hasmark Strandcamping or at the grill. Here, the journey continues along small country roads, where you can help yourself to various fruits at roadside stalls in season. Take a break at Glavendruplunden, where there are toilets (weeks 13-42), a covered picnic area, and shelters. Take a short walk over to the Glavendrup stone and feel the wings of history. After this, continue until you reach Dallund Castle. The castle is not open to the public, but you can enjoy a walk around the lake and in the beautiful park. The area also features a nature playground for children and a birdwatching tower with a view over the lake. The trip then goes further along small country roads until you reach Langesøstien. You can follow the bike path towards Odense through Hole Skov until you cross Ryds Å. Take the stairs down to the stream and follow the path that continues along Stavisåstien. Ride along the stream all the way to Åløkkeskoven. Enjoy a well-deserved meal and a drink at one of the many food stalls in Storms Pakhus before the trip ends at City Bridge. Surface: Asphalt, small gravel, field road on Enebærodde. The trip can be taken by anyone, as it is flat – however, it is long.
