Cycling: The Maritime Route

The route begins in Svendborg Harbour, where the wooden shipyard Ring Andersen from 1867 still repairs large wooden ships out on Frederiksøen. From here, the journey goes over the Svendborgsund Bridge, from which the South Funen Archipelago can be seen from 35 meters above the water.

From Vindeby, the Town of Venders, the route goes through Bregninge Forest to the idyllic Skipper Town Troense. Here, there are many well-preserved half-timbered houses from the city's heyday.

You can also take a bike detour past Ambrosius Egen (in the direction away from Troense) - which is over 500 years old. Take the Veteran Ship Helge to Thurø. (Note that it may be difficult to take bikes if there are many passengers).

Thurø has the shape of a horseshoe and is the perfect natural harbor. In the bay, old sailing ships are still being repaired at Walsted Boatyard. On the way back to Svendborg, you cycle along Christiansminde, which for centuries has been the favorite outing destination for the people of Svendborg.
