The Ulvholm Route in Kastbjerg Ådal (4.8 km round trip)

The Ulvholm Route offers magnificent views over the hilly landscape at Lambækdal in Kastbjerg Ådal. The Ulvholm Route is marked with red triangles.

Starting point: There is free parking without a time limit at Lambækdal, Hemvej 20, 9550 Mariager. It is 900 meters each way from the parking lot at Lambækdal to where the actual 3 km round trip starts - a total of 4.8 km. You can also choose to park at Kransmark parking, Kransmarkvej 8, 9550 Mariager. The distance from here is the same, but the path is not as spectacular as from Lambækdal parking.

Experiences: The Ulvholm Route has a stunning view down over the undulating terrain by Kastbjerg Å. The route is a circular walk across Kastbjerg Ådal past the old fortification Ulvholm. On the slopes down to the river, beautiful cowslips and marsh orchids grow, which display their yellow and purple flowers in spring. Close to the river, there are many rich meadows - small meadows with calcareous freshwater, which are low in nutrients but rich in special plants such as butterwort, orchids, and sedge. You can beneficially extend the Ulvholm Route with the Kvottrup Route. The trail connection between the Ulvholm Route and the Kvottrup Route is 1.1 km each way, and the actual round trip on the Kvottrup Route is 0.9 km, making your trip 3.1 km longer in total. Both the trail connection and the Kvottrup Route are marked with green triangles.

Note: On the Ulvholm Route, you will need to pass approximately 30 meters through a enclosure with grazing cattle. Keep a good distance from the animals and always keep your dog on a leash.
