Swan Sister Path

"Swan Lake Path" is a small walk around Swan Lake, where the path goes through part of the royal Deer Park near Skanderborg Castle.

Skanderborg Castle was rebuilt and expanded by Frederik II from a medieval royal castle to become a magnificent Renaissance hunting lodge. The castle’s deer park was a fenced area where game was released, which was used when the king stayed at the castle. The deer park should not be confused with "The Skanderborg Game Reserve," which was the king's private hunting district that included all of the Søhøjlandet.

Until a few years ago, "Swan Lake" was actually called "Black Lake." But after a very extensive cleaning process, "Black Lake" had improved water quality, and the lake regained its old name, "Swan Lake."

"Swan Lake Path" offers the possibility of a small cozy shortcut along "Swamp Path," which is a wonderful walk through the low-lying areas through reed beds and swamp south of "Swan Lake." The walk around "Swan Lake" also goes through the institution Sølund, past Døjsø, Skanderborg Central Wastewater Treatment Plant, and Aquaglobe, as well as past Skanderborg's new skate park.

The walk around Swan Lake is 2.5 km.

There is parking available at Døjsøvej north of Swan Lake.
