Wild bees on Nyord

The diversity of bees is varied and fascinating. Globally, bees, especially wild bees and bumblebees, are threatened.
The small island of Nyord, northwest of Møn, is part of the Møn UNESCO biosphere area. The island is best known for its rich bird life and now also for the wild bees.

In connection with a scientific study in the Møn Biosphere Area, a total of 645 bees from 37 species were recorded on Nyord in 2018, including four that are rare in Denmark. Based on the project, Denmark's first bee hiking trail has been established.

The tour starts and ends at the Nature Center Hyldevang on Nyord, where from the first warm spring days to the mild autumn, you can experience the diverse buzzing in the colorful bee flower garden and around the large bee hotel. Here you will find an information board that guides you on the tour.

The trail takes you along a field path by the Nyord meadows, where you can enjoy the view over one of East Denmark's largest bird reserves. The path ends in the small well-preserved Nyord village, where you will find an info board about bees.
