Start at Nyord Bridge. Be mindful of private landowners in the first part of the route.
Until 1974, flint was extracted at Ulvshale, where a tip wagon track was established to transport flint to the stone factory (now a private boat club).
At the far end of the route, you will find an old fortification from the Napoleonic Wars - 1807 - 1814. The fortification protected the northern entrance to Stege.
From the fort, there is a fantastic view of the shallow waters north of Nyord. Here, there is a rich bird life. You may be lucky to see a sea eagle passing by.
The small piece of heathland around the fort is grazed by livestock.
