Skånsø

Skånsø is one of Denmark's cleanest lakes. It is a so-called Lobelia lake. A range of special aquatic plants grow in it, including the two-leaved lobelia. A lobelia lake is a pure lake with clear water that is slightly acidic. These lakes have become rare due to pollution.
The area around Skånsø is dominated by a plantation that mainly consists of coniferous trees. The paths follow the edges and the more interesting parts of the planted forest.
To the east, the open heathland areas are passed, where heather spreads. The heath is particularly beautiful in August - September when the heather blooms. Here, several points offer views over Hvidemosen, Skalle Lake, and the area north of Hjerl Hede.
In the area, there are about 5 km of marked hiking trails. In the plantation, there is also a marked mountain bike trail, as well as a marked horse riding trail. The paths are mainly located in the municipally owned plantation but also pass through private areas; please be considerate of our neighbors.
