Vadsted

The recreational area near Vadsted is a municipal nature area consisting of two recently created lakes. A nice gravel path has been established on the northern side of the lakes, where you can enjoy the view of the lake and meadow area. Along the stretch, there is also a small shelter where you can sit and have your packed lunch sheltered from the wind and weather, with a view over the large lake with its rich bird life and a smaller forested area behind it. Near the packed lunch house, there is also a small fire pit as well as a path/bridge by the large lake, providing an opportunity to get down to the water's edge without getting your feet wet.

Cows keep the vegetation down at Vadsted.

A larger part of the green area by the lakes is grazed by a herd of cows, which keeps the vegetation down. Grazing in the meadow area is important, as it would otherwise grow tall grasses, displacing the smaller flowering plants. The cows are of the Hereford breed, and they are well-suited for nature management.
