Suså Trail. Gunderslevholm - Næstved

Head south from Holløse Enge through Tystemose Forest, past Troldebjerg and along Ladbyvej towards Ladby. Along the way, there is a view over Susåen.

Ladby Mill

On Troldebjergvej is Ladby Andelsmølle. It is a fine little mill that has served the local farmers when they needed to have their grain ground for feed. It has not been in operation for many years, but local citizens take good care of it so that it does not fall into disrepair. Every year on the third Sunday in June, there is an Open Mill from 12 to 4 PM, organized by the Mill Guild.

Ladby Church Ruins

Ladby Church Ruins have a unique flora, including old medicinal plants such as swallowwort, dioecious bittercress, and common heartsease. The church was demolished in the Middle Ages when a new church was built at Herlufsholm. Access is from Ladbyvej 43 in the middle of the village.

Herlufsholm Boarding School

Herlufsholm Boarding School is surrounded by forest and park - beautifully located by the banks of Susåen. The boarding school has been significantly expanded since the 1960s, so that the complex now consists of a mix of old and newer buildings made of red bricks. Herlufsholm is a foundation that includes the boarding school, the church, and the estate. The estate includes 1,550 hectares of arable land and forest.

From Herlufsholm to Humlebjerg

Near Herlufsholm School and Church, the cobblestone arch bridge built in 1743 crosses Susåen. Along the western bank, on the same side as the cemetery, there is a footpath that follows the river's course. The path first goes along the natural forest and passes the old railway bridge that once led towards Slagelse. After that, the path runs along a meadow down to the river before leading out to Humlebjerg - a planted hill with old beautiful deciduous trees down to Susåen. The hill also serves as a hideout for the animals. Stay on the paths - and show consideration. There is a possibility to return to Herlufsholm via a field road.

Rådmandshaven

The varied deciduous forest has both old trees, untouched areas, and alder swamps. Alder trees mixed with wet reed swamps can be seen in the southeastern part of the forest down towards Susåen. The forest once belonged to Skovkloster and was largely used as grazing forest. Especially in spring, the forest floor displays a rich flora, and later a multitude of mushrooms appear.
