Højris Mill - Red route

The long route on the Nature Fund's property at Højris Mill leads through a particularly diverse landscape above and across the river valley. The route goes over meadows and pastures with grazing cattle, and through woods, thickets, and marshes. The Sønderup River is crossed twice. It is a highly undulating terrain with beautiful views, idyllic by the river, and a rich plant and animal life. In June, you can see swarms of the large mayflies, the May flies, and the beautiful water nymph Blue Label is common here. The otter is also present, and in recent years, the shy beavers have found their way to the Sønderup River both here and further up the stream. There are good chances of seeing trees that the beavers have felled. The path surface consists of forest trails and marked paths on the grazed areas, which can be muddy in wet weather. The terrain is highly undulating and sometimes uneven, so the route is unsuitable for those with walking difficulties.
