The Himmerlandsheaths include: Vindblæs Hede, Oudrup Østerhede, Lundby Hede, Ajstrup Hede, Kyø Dale. The area offers beautiful nature, rich wildlife, and history. The heaths today cover only a small part of what they did in the 19th century and consist of moraine hills covered by windblown sand. They are now left uninhabited, but humans have historically influenced the landscape with burial mounds, agricultural practices, and a network of roads and hollow ways. The substrate in the heaths consists of grasses and trodden paths, and the terrain is hilly. In the heaths, you can experience a rich plant and animal life, and especially the rare and endangered butterfly, the Heather Blue, has attracted much attention. The Heather Blue breeds on the plant Devil's Bite, which has one of its few Danish habitats on the heaths. Therefore, much of the nature management in the area focuses on promoting growth conditions for Devil's Bite, and thereby the living conditions for Heather Blue, while also ensuring a flora as rich in species as possible. Several parking areas are associated with the paths.
