The blue route is 5 km and goes all the way around the beautiful and species-rich bog Holtemmen in the western part of the plantation. You can access the trail at both Skovhytten by Gateway Læsø and at the parking lot on Holtemmenvejen. If you start at Skovhytten, you first pass through a spruce thinning, and then you follow the old rescue road, which runs along the slope that formed Læsø's coastline 3,000 years ago when Læsø rose from the sea. Back then, an elongated island grew along the coast together with the mainland. This created a lagoon that developed into a lake because the groundwater on Læsø is very high. Subsequently, the land rose further, and most of the lake is today a bog.
