The Langelandsbanen Before Langeland became bridge-connected, trains ran between Rudkøbing and Bagenkop. The total length of the line was 33 km. The station in Lindelse was built in 1910 and was designed by Helge Bojsen Møller. Although permission had been granted to extend the railway so that it covered the entire island from north to south, the northern section was never built. The railway made everyday life easier for many of the local farmers, as they were spared the long road transport. Furthermore, the railway section between Rudkøbing and Spodsbjerg has been an important traffic junction, due to Langeland's location, which connects Zealand/Lolland with Funen/Jutland through ferry traffic.
