Nature trail, Horsens-Silkeborg

After 70 years of steam locomotives and diesel trains, "Denmark's most beautiful railway" between Horsens and Bryrup was closed in 1968 and has since been converted into a nature trail, where walkers, cyclists, and riders have taken over the "track". For the largest part of the route, the trail runs along the same path as the former railway, which means that the elevation along the way is limited. The nature trail is marked along the entire stretch between Horsens and Silkeborg. With an asphalt surface on one side of the path, bicycles, wheelchairs, strollers, and rollerblades can easily move along, while a gravel surface on the other side caters to riders and walkers. There are good opportunities for resting along the way - both at one of the many rest areas with tables and benches - and at one of the primitive camping sites with shelters, water, and compost toilets, which are located at intervals of 10-15 km.
