Avnø blue route - family-friendly route

Seals, observation tower, bonfire, and many good routes. Start at Avnø Nature Center. The nature center is open year-round until 10 PM with access to a changing table, toilet, light, warm room, and good information about nature at Avnø. Throughout the year, you can see seals in the fjord from the binoculars up in the old control tower. The path to the coastline is suitable for the physically challenged. The meadows offer a rich bird life and good views. You can walk around Nokkeskoven and down to the shelter area by the coast. You can shorten the trip a bit by cutting off when you come to Nokkeskoven, making the trip 3.3 km. The coastal route offers a good view over Avnø Fjord, where you might be lucky enough to see sleeping seals on the fjord's many large stones. Bring some firewood from home and light a bonfire by the beautiful shelters in Nokkeskoven. Pick wild edible herbs in the spring, and in the fall, rosehips and blackberries. Stick to the marked route from March 15 to July 15, as the birds nest in the meadows during this period.
