Voer comes from the old Danish word wara, which means an uncultivated area. Monasteries were essentially founded on wasteland and had to be expanded by receiving bequests. The name of the village Voerladegård is rooted in the fact that Voer Monastery's storage buildings for the agricultural products that the monastery's peasants delivered as a tax to cultivate the monastery's land were located here.
