The path takes you through a mixed landscape of heath, forest, marsh, and lakes. One of the lakes is Birkesø, which is home to Lobelia, an aquatic plant with flowers above the water that thrives only in nutrient-poor clear lakes.
An information board about the area can be found by the parking lot. At Birkesø, there is access to a fire pit, picnic tables, a bathing jetty, shelters, and a toilet.
