Rønnebæk Å

Rønnebæk Å has been restored to its natural state. The river was previously culverted in sections but was opened up and exposed from the mid-1990s. The sea trout now migrates back up the river. The river flows out by Appenæs. At Rønnebæksholm, there have been several lakes and watermills.

Rønnebæk Å was last dammed in 1513 by a dam north of Rønnebæksholm. This created Holme Sø around the earliest version of Rønnebæksholm, which likely lies hidden in the small island Dyrehaveholmen or Mollylund east of Rønnebæksholm. In Holme Sø, the tributaries from Kalbyris flowed into it.
