In Jels Skovene, there are three lakes, namely Nedersø at 54 ha, Midtsø at 25 ha, and Oversø at 9 ha. They are located at the bottom of a tunnel valley and are interconnected by Jels Å. Both the lakes and their immediate surroundings are protected to ensure that no further construction occurs along the shorelines and to preserve meadows and living hedges. The lakes are good breeding sites for waterfowl.
The lakes can be used for swimming, canoeing, fishing, and a wide range of other activities.
