ABOUT THE GRAVE MOUNDS OF THE ROUTE The dating of the route's grave mounds is somewhat uncertain. Between 50,000 B.C. and 1050 A.D. – thus the entire ancient period and the Viking Age. The eight mounds, Kvindbjerghøje (d to k) are most likely from the Bronze Age. The three other mounds on the route (a, b, and c) are immediately harder to date. There has been speculation as to whether so many reasonably large mounds as at Kvindbjerghøje indicate that there was an ancient settlement on the site. The grave mounds on the route are indicated with letters (a-k). In the listing under the corresponding letter, the following information is provided: • The name of the grave mound, which often recurs at several mounds. Often the name of the farm whose land the mound is located on (“Kjærsgaard”), or if there is an authorized place name (“Kvindbjerghøje”). • Any other information related to the grave mound (indicating when the information was collected). The route is 4.4 km long and marked with arrows.
