Mejerigrøften - Yellow route

The meadow south of Hammershøj was used for hay collection and grazing, as well as a peat extraction site, so that people could supply themselves with fuel. Today, only a smaller part of the meadow area is utilized by farmers, and therefore the meadows are overgrown with shrubs, where there is now the opportunity for great nature experiences.

The name Mejerigrøften originates from the time when Hammershøj dairy discharged their wastewater through pipes down through the town and out into the meadow. Hammershøj dairy was put into operation on 28.09.1898 and was closed on 29.10.1979.

Route description
The trail starts at Hammershøj stadium and then goes down to the left along the gravel road by the treatment plant. Here, the road splits into two, and you keep to the right. You then follow the walking path out of the field road, and at the second road on the right, you go out into the meadow. After that, you follow the path and turn right when the road naturally curves. The path then crosses the meadow, where there is a path made, and you pass two manhole covers. On the last stretch of the route, you walk along Mejerigrøften, keeping it on your right side, and end up at Stadionvej 48, turn right again and end up back at the starting point.

Rules for walking
When walking on the marked hiking trail, you must show consideration for nature, the old cultural tracks, and the residents. Please be considerate as the route passes private areas in several places. The route is in some areas on a quite hilly terrain and therefore not wheelchair friendly. The trail will be maintained as needed. All walking is at your own risk. It is exclusively a walking path, so no bicycles or similar are allowed. In certain periods of the year, access may be limited due to hunting.
