Handicaps in Soldier's Wood

Now, the visually and mobility-impaired have easier access to nature experiences. In Soldaterskoven north of Tønder, the Nature Agency has created a so-called handicap path around Klebergs Sø. This has been done at the request - and in consultation with - the Danish Blind Society and the Joint Danish Disability Organizations.

"The path has been made in such a way that both visually impaired people and wheelchair users can access nature experiences safely. For example, we have paved the path with crushed stone, so that wheelchairs can move around better. And for the benefit of the visually impaired, we have installed a handrail so they can 'feel' the course of the path with a white cane," says forest ranger Thomas Wessel Fyhn from the Nature Agency - Ribe.
