For each whole kilometer, there is a stone where a relief of an animal or a plant has been carved into the stone. All 11 animals/plants are typical for the area. It is the artist Olav Johannisson who has carved the motifs into the stones. If you follow the route clockwise, there are also directional stones placed with arrows at the points where there may be doubt about which path to follow.
