The Fyrreskoven forest in Hårup Sande was planted on the poor sand to stop the sand drift. Today, it is an exciting forest with rare animals and plants. The area is particularly known for its good mushrooms, but there are many other things, such as rare lichens and five-ribbed wolf's foot. Schoubyes Lake was excavated when there was a shortage of fill for the construction of the Ring Road.
Today, the area is a very popular destination and also a breeding ground
for thousands of common toads and a drinking place for the forest's animals.
