Viskinge Church

Viskinge Church was built around the year 1200 and is especially known for its unique and well-preserved frescoes, which were created around 1450. They are believed to trace back to a Westphalian painting tradition.

Værslev Church and Town

The Romanesque stone church is located on relatively flat terrain near the former rectory and the town's idyllic pond. A large, low-lying and moist area with a pond at the church wall forms an open space in the center of the town, surrounded by roads and street houses from various periods, as well as a few farms.

The Dolmens

Between Kærby and Jerslev lies a passage grave, through which the road runs. On the road from Værslev towards Kærby—closest to Kærby—lies the well-preserved Olshøj passage grave with two excavated chambers. On the road from Kærby towards Rørby, there is the double passage grave Nordenhøj, which was excavated by Ludvig Zink in 1885. In the nearby Hyldehøj, which also used to be a double passage grave, he made the richest finds ever made in Denmark.

Ubberup Folk High School

The school was established in 1899 in a former poorhouse as an expression of the influence of Grundtvigianism in the area. Thorvald Bindesbøll designed a gym for the school, which is considered an architectural gem.

Ubberup Congregational Church - Bethlehem Church

The congregation was founded in 1872 due to a distancing from the often rigid state church and a desire for a more relevant and free church life under the influence of the Grundtvigian revival. The altarpiece was executed by the painter Joakim Skovgaard. It is adorned with a frame by Thorvald Bindesbøll.

Bøgebjerg

Between Ubberup Folk High School and Ubberup Congregational Church lies a hill 48 m high, from which there is a beautiful view in clear weather. The horizon is dotted with several white church towers.

Ubberup Town

The town is characterized by small, old houses in poor condition. For many years, the town was a meeting place for Ars Herred.

Kildebjerg
