Tøndermarsken is one of the best places to experience the black sun, which is most often seen in autumn and spring when large flocks of starlings gather to collectively protect themselves from enemies. On this small hike, you will pass by Rudbøl Lake, where the starlings often settle in the reeds. Therefore, there are really good opportunities to experience the spectacular natural phenomenon, typically seen a couple of hours after sunrise and again a couple of hours before sunset.
Note that the terrain is uneven on the dike, which is part of the route.
