Fejborg Bakke Green

This route is located in an area that was protected in 1970. The entire natural area of Fejborg Bakke, Grevsmosen, Bollebakken, and Slettingen comprises about 70 ha, and there is public access on foot along the marked paths. The landscape is very hilly and varied. It is described as a mosaic of forests, fields, marshes, small lakes, heaths, and heath-covered hills. The mosaic has arisen through an interaction of the natural conditions that were created back in the Ice Age. Between Grevsmosen and Slettingen are heath hills that were used as hideouts by bandits and smugglers in the past, and many of the old hollow roads are still well preserved. In the area, you can still find remains of the earth caves where the bandits stayed. The area holds many cultural historical traces and hidden treasures. Explore, for example, the long barrow at Fejborg Bakke, which dates back to the Stone Age. From here and several other places in the area, there are beautiful views over Jyske Ås and large parts of Vendsyssel. There are camping and shelter facilities in several places in the area, e.g., Lunken, Slettingen, and Stenbakken.
