Strandparken

Strandparken in Ishøj Municipality is a coastal and scenic leisure landscape just 15 kilometers from the Town Hall Square in Copenhagen. The originally artificial landscape has over time acquired a natural character, where wild plants have taken root and a wide range of birds have found suitable nesting and resting areas. Strandparken provides the framework for an incredibly versatile outdoor life with a variety of cultural and natural experiences beneficial for the residents of the West Edge.

The ARKEN Museum

ARKEN - Museum of Modern Art since 1996 is worth a visit not only for its exhibitions but also as an architectural work. Architect Søren Robert Lund has created a building that evokes thoughts of ship forms. ARKEN was significantly expanded in 2008-2009.

Vestvolden

Vestvolden is a 14 kilometer long continuous defense position 9 km from central Copenhagen. It runs from Køge Bay at Avedøre to Utterslev Mose and was built using manual labor and steam engines. It was constructed between 1888 and 1892.

Avedøreværket

Avedøreværket is located on Avedøre Holme south of Copenhagen and is one of the world's most energy-efficient combined heat and power plants. The plant produces what corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of 1.3 million households and supplies approximately 200,000 households in the capital region with district heating. The simultaneous production of electricity and heat is a crucial factor for the energy efficiency of Avedøreværket.

Kalvebod Fælled

At Vestamager, you can experience vast expanses with plenty of grazing horses, cows, and deer, along with an exciting birdlife. Vestamager is about 2000 hectares in size. Nowhere else in Europe can you find a natural area of this size so close to the big city, with a metro just "at the door".
