Tingdal Plantation

Tingdal Plantation is located between Højer and Hjerpsted. The plantation covers just over 24 hectares and consists of coniferous forest and areas of deciduous forest.

In the northeast corner of Tingdal Plantation, there is an area of about 6 hectares of moving sand known as the Desert, featuring heather and grasses. The Desert was cleared of growth in 1978 and has since been maintained through grazing.

In the western part of the plantation, there are several small ponds. Here, the relatively rare Edible Frog, Pelobates fuscus, breeds. The name Edible Frog comes from the fact that it sometimes smells of garlic.

An asphalt path has been laid through the plantation. It was established as a dead-end path in 1992. The path still exists, but its function as a Disabled Path has been moved to Soldaterskoven near Tønder.
