Gjerrild Path

General
The Gjerrild Path is approximately 28 km long and passes through Gjerrild, Hemmed, Tranehuse, Stenvad, Ramten, Nimtofte, and Ryomgård. The path goes through large forests and several small towns that were once railway towns.

In Gjerrild, there is a connection to the North Sea Path, and in Ryomgård via the Railway Path, which continues to Allingåbro.

There are parking options in the towns along the path.

History
Trains operated on this route between 1911 and 1956, and the transport consisted of both passenger transport and goods such as timber from the sawmill in Tranehuse, fish, pigs, and peat from Stenvad.

On the route
In Gjerrild Church, there are fine frescoes, the impressive, multi-trunked Svalebøg tree, and the beautiful manor Sostrup Slot, where concerts and retreats are held.

Around Hemmed, it is particularly worth noting the village with the small "humped" church. The area is rich in burial mounds, and it is recommended to make the detour around the
