Fejborg Hill red

This route is located in an area that was designated as a nature reserve in 1970. The entire nature area of Fejborg Bakke, Grevsmosen, Bollebakken, and Slettingen comprises about 70 hectares, and there is public access on foot via the marked paths. The landscape is very hilly and varied. It is described as a mosaic of forest, fields, peat bogs, small lakes, meadows, and heather-clad hills. The mosaic has arisen through an interplay between the natural conditions that were formed back during the Ice Age. Between Grevsmosen and Slettingen, there are heath hills that were once used as hideouts by robbers and smugglers, and many of the old sunken roads are still well-preserved. In the area, one can still find remnants of the earth cavities where the robbers took refuge. The area holds many cultural-historical traces and hidden treasures. For example, explore the long barrow at Fejborg Bakke, which dates back to the Stone Age. From here and several other places in the area, there are beautiful views over the Jutland Ridge and large parts of Vendsyssel. There are camping and shelter facilities in several places in the area, such as Lunken, Slettingen, and Stenbakken.
