Myrdeskov

On the majority of the hiking route in Myrdeskov, visitors walk through the forest along a grazing fold. Only on a small stretch of the route do you have to go through the fold. In Myrdeskov, there is tranquility and a low level of visitors. The route follows the grazing fold around the forest and is not marked.

During the walk around the forest, you can experience two important and rare natural types; beech trees on calcareous soil and grasslands on calcareous soil, which are particularly found here in Myrdeskov and in the neighboring forest of Allindelille Fredskov. It is precisely these natural types that the grazing animals are present in the forest to tend to. Grazing in Myrdeskov takes place in cooperation with Allindelille Fredskov, and the animals in the folds are there all year round and can roam freely in the fenced parts of both forests. Although there are cattle, horses, and Boer goats in the fold, you will need to be lucky to spot them, as there are few of them. The Boer goats are used for nature management precisely here, as they tend to eat maple, which is unwanted here.

In the forest areas with beech trees on calcareous soil, you can experience the forest floor covered with anemones in March. First, the blue anemones bloom, which depend on the calcareous soil. In April, the white and yellow anemones are in full bloom, along with many other spring flowers. In spring, you may also be lucky enough to see the forest marten and its young. Among the rare species in the forest, you might be fortunate enough to see a different-flowered violet or perhaps even the beetle green jewel beetle.
