Yellow route - Bræmlevænge, North Langeland

There are 3 marked hiking trails in the forests of North Langeland: Bræmlevænge at 1.6 km, Vestre Stigtehave at 3.3 km, and Mørkholm at 2.7 km. Please note that there is also the option to camp freely in Bræmlevænge.

Bræmle or bremle is a Langeland word for blackberry, and there are many of them in the forest. The vegetation is primarily beech, but around the small bogs, you can also find ash. At the eastern end of the forest, there is an unusual thuja plantation. It was planted in 1930. At the western end of the forest stands a large stone called “Lejrstenen.” Its origin is unknown, but according to local history, it is associated with the Swedish Wars in the 17th century.

In the midst of the forest lies Vøjremosen – a large, open meadow where cows graze in the summer. “Vøjre” is an old Langeland word for willows, i.e., willow branches or twigs. In ancient times, willow was used for, among other things, woven work in half-timbering, for tools, for basket weaving, and for barrel hoops. Willows have previously grown on the meadow.
