The Himmelsøen is a new outdoor area that Roskilde Municipality is developing over the coming years. Himmelsøen is a large groundwater lake. It is approximately 2 km around the lake. In the autumn of 2014, hiking and cycling paths were established around the lake, and some nature management has been implemented. In the coming years, the former gravel pit will be further developed as a recreational area. There is a path to Himmelsøen from Darupvang by Ringstedvej. Parking is available above the lake in the parking lot at Darupvej.
