Take a good walk in the forest, which is located in a man-made lake area with deep clay pits and a rich birdlife. The area consists of open light areas, alder thickets, and large old lakes. The lakes were formed as clay pits in connection with brick production at Helgenæs Brickworks. Production ceased in 1980. In connection with the area, a school forest was established in 1987 with examples of Danish tree species such as beech, ash, and lime. In the Brickworks Forest, there are 5 lakes, of which Heron Lake is the largest. The smaller lakes are in some places very deep, down to 10 meters. It is permitted to fish in the lakes. Remember a fishing license if you are between 16 and 65 years old.
