At Vongshøj lies a group of about 50 burial mounds. Vongshøj is the tallest, adorned with a 5-meter-high tower. A legend tells that the giant Vong is buried in the mound. From the tower, which is 67 meters above sea level, there is an unobstructed view of the landscape. The view over heathland and hill islands is magnificent. To the west, the dunes of Rømø and Sild can be seen, to the south are Tønder and Tinglev, to the east the hilly landscape near Aabenraa, and to the north, the town tower of Ribe Cathedral can be glimpsed. On clear nights, the light from the lighthouse at Blåvandshuk can be seen flashing.
